Women's Empowerment Initiative

Education, Leadership & Opportunity Pathways

Najwa Foundation believes that women’s empowerment begins with education, confidence, and access to opportunity. This initiative supports girls and women from refugee and immigrant backgrounds as they build the skills, leadership, and resources needed to shape their futures.

This initiative centers women at every stage of life, starting with education and leadership development for young women, and expanding toward long-term economic empowerment.

Empowering women and girls through education, leadership, and opportunity

Sudan, Refugee Camps & Michigan Communities

About This Campaign

The Women’s Empowerment Initiative is a long-term effort to support women affected by displacement, conflict, and systemic barriers. Our approach begins with education and leadership development, recognizing that sustainable empowerment starts with knowledge, confidence, and opportunity.

One key component of this initiative is our High School Pitch Competition, which provides young women, particularly from underrepresented and refugee backgrounds, with early exposure to entrepreneurship, public speaking, mentorship, and leadership development. These experiences help build confidence, agency, and pathways to future success.
